The Kortholt is a very special instrument of the renaissance. Its name simply means "short (piece of) wood ".
The instruments has two narrow cylindrical bores side by side. these are connected at the lower end of the instrument. this makes it possible to play the rather short instrument over a range of two octaves without overblowing. |
