This new effect is similar to what You hear when You sing or
play into an undamped string instrument like Harp or Dulcimer. It can
be used to emulate a cluster of sympathetic strings for Harpsichord or
Harp emulations. But is also nice with other instruments.
I have now also created a Sympathizer version that can be used with NI Reaktor.
The Sympathizer Tuning Table
The Sympathizer supports tuning presets. These can be accessed
and edited from a seperate Panel. To open it rightclick any element
within the osc(sym) module and let SynC Modular find it. Then
rightclick the Sympathizer Tuning Table module and select show panel.
You can now play around with the tunings or add your own scales.
Sympathizer Tuning presets:
- .Chinese Quin:
A pythagorean Pentatonic tuning in use for the chinese Quin.
Intervals in cents:
From each other: 204-294-204-204-294-204
From root 204-498-702-906-1200-1404
- Pythagorean Pentaton:
A Pentatonic scale that explores the Fractions
1, 5/4, 4/3, 3/2, 5/3 as Intervalls.
- Medieval:
1, 9/8, 81/64, 4/3, 3/2, 27/8, 243/128
Most pairs of notes 4 steps apart are in the ratio of 3/2,
so the fifths sound good. This collection of pitches is
called the Pythagorean Scale, and much medieval music sounds
best in this scale.
- Asavari Raga:
A Raga Scale used in classical indian music.
1/1, 9/8, 32/27, 4/3, 3/2, 8/5, 16/9, 2/1
- Just Major:
1 9/8 5/4 4/3 3/2 5/3 5/8 2
- Mandinka:
An interesting one. This is an african scale. An equidistant
heptatonic tuning used by the Western Sudanese Mande people
for Balafones.
- A D110 Detuned 1:
All Strings in Unison, Slightly detuned
- A D110 Detuned 2:
